mini pie mini success

I sold all my mini pies on Saturday!  Barely turned a profit, but didn't lose money (that is good enough for me at this point).

My superstar mini pie was the Jamon Serrano beetroot with fromage blanc.  Ugh, god it was tasty.

those mini pies rocked my spots off.

a great duck hairdo

I spent some of today gathering things for the big pie thing.  One of the pies will be a fresh strawberry custard with jasmine whipped cream.  My only hope is that I don't eat the ingredients before they make it to the event.

My boyfriend has a head injury from a hug gone wrong.

I've been feeling a bit fatalistic and stressed out about making these pies and making them delicious.  I drew a duck with fancy feathers the other week and it calms me down to look at it because it fills me with the warm and fuzzies (dryer lint?).

the wet carpet's exploration of darkness closing party

Amazing miniature pies and tartlets will available for purchase at The Wet Carpet's exhibition closing party this Saturday, March 26.  The party (well, the portion of the party where pies will available) will be at the Lub.d Guesthouse, starting around 9pm.  There will also be beer and other things that will make the atmosphere quite party-like.

Savory Pies!  Sweet Tartlets!  Sluts!  Enthusiasm!  Jerks!  Beautiful People!  Neon Shit!  One or More Pairs of Socks!

You will probably run into most, if not all of these things at the event, so come on down!

I may replace this image with something more representative later today.

scintillating ceylon tea

I had some tea.  The packet in which it came looked a bit like this:

scintillating.

jelly donut girl goes shopping

This is dumb and boring but I still like it because I'm in love with JDG.

pi day pies and twin peaks

Here are some photos of the two pies that were made for Pi Day.  They were pretty delightful.  I have no clue if any of them sold, but I tasted a little bit of comfort and heaven when I bit into the oaty fruit and bacon extravaganza that I got to create while watching an episode of Twin Peaks.

Brown Sugar Green Apple Oat

Peppery Olive Oil and Bacon Oat

Apple and Bacon Oat, being awesome.

Oh my god, this jerk was bringing drugs into Twin Peaks!!!

A crappy thing about Laura Palmer's death is that she wasn't able to sample these delicious pies before kicking it.

3.141592

This Monday is Pi Day and to celebrate the day (or exploit, whatever), I will bake a series of (when I say series, I mean two) tasty pies for Serenade Restaurant's Ultra Special Pie Menu.  The pies to be gobbled will be an olive oil peppered bacon oatmeal pie, and a sweet buttered brown sugar and green apple oatmeal pie.

jelly donut girl

This girl's body is a strawberry jam filled donut and she is very sensitive about her lack of arms.

loving on demi

There is an amazing Taiwanese restaurant called Demi in Bangkok.  My boyfriend and I have been frequenting this establishment on pretty much a weekly basis for the past few months.  I've been enamored with the food; almost everything that is served is fragrant, caramel colored and gustatorily perfect.

A few weeks ago, we paid Demi a visit and ordered vegetarian fried shrimp.  What came to us was a plate of approximately sixteen balls of gummy, shredded gluten pasted together with tempura batter, fried creamy yellow.  These balls were perched on a bed pineapple chunks, also yellow.  Resting on the balls was a dressing of sweetened mayonnaise expertly applied by someone with the skill and ardour of the abstract expressionist Jackson Pollock.  On top of the mayonnaise were a dash of candy sprinkles.

It tasted just as it looks and sounds.

This, while perhaps not delicious, is by far the most exciting dish Demi has to offer.

It makes me happy that one of my favorite restaurants in Bangkok offers in real life a culinary regret willed by some drunk with an eating disorder.

P.S.  I really wanted to write this as a food review for one of my favorite haute cuisine blogs ever, food party, but I don't think that will happen.  More importantly, though, is that Food Party is also a super amazing cooking show on IFC.  Everyone should know about and watch this show because it is, as I just wrote, super amazing!

snugglebugs' creamed corn social!

Oh, yummy!  Just look at all that perfect creamed corn.  Either it or the fact that I've only consumed a ball of noodles all day is really making me hungry.
